Baron Levente has fallen under a terrible disease. Bishop Konrád, his chief advisor, insists that it is not a natural illness, but a curse.

In the 13th century, the Magyars are rebuilding the Kingdom of Hungary, devastated by the Mongols’ invasions. But not everyone has altruistic intentions; someone has fixed his gaze on the Carpathian Mountains, and found the perfect way to increase his power without arousing suspicion.

Meanwhile, the royal court summons knight Rodger Clement to discuss the situation. Rumors tell of a cure in the depths of the Bükk Mountains, and Clement is the only one who can stand up to the task.

His resolve, blood and sword are at the service of his lord, and he will do anything in his power to save him… even if it means giving his own life.

Praise for HOLY REMEDY
"An epic tale with a stunning historical setting around the 13th century" - Romuald Dzemo, Readers' Favorite
"A story with much to admire, particularly in the use and believablity of its characters. The book keeps the reader on edge from start to finish and will leave them licking their lips at the prospect of more." - Richard M. Ankers, author of The Eternals series

Holy Remedy The Invisible Conflict Chronicles Book 1 eBook J G Martins

Holy Remedy by J.G. Martins is a medieval tale of adventure and empire. A brave knight and his mentor have been dispatched to the mountains in order to find a cure for a strange disease that has fallen over their master. The disease is thought to be of a supernatural type so the remedy would have to be holy in order to cure the master. When the knights find what they are seeking in a cave in the wilderness, a supernatural being attempts to stop them, taking the older knight in the process. The knight makes his escape and returns to save his master. But this is just the beginning of an adventure that will bring together history and the supernatural in the beginning of an interesting new series.
I really liked the idea of taking a little bit of history and incorporating new characters into it along with a heavy dose of the supernatural. This made the story fun and interesting for me and kept me wanting to keep on reading. However, I found the story a bit hard to follow at times as the characters were referenced back and forth in no clear order. It could have just been the style of writing the author created for himself, or it could have been that the manuscript was in need of an edit. Either way, it caused me to be a bit distracted throughout which caused me to to lose track of what was taking place in the story. Either way, I found this to be a good starting point for this author and I look forward to what he offers in the future.

Holy Remedy The Invisible Conflict Chronicles Book 1 eBook J G Martins Reviews

Holy Remedy by J. G. Martins, it is a book of adventure that takes place in the 13th century were the pupil of the master that need the Holy remedy to keep his life, finds out the way to get the remedy by conquering a lot of difficult tasks and adventures to get it on time to give it to his master and save his life. Basically, that is the plot. The characters are well described and well set in the time and place where the history takes place. The description of the background is good, I like it and the supernatural rivals to whom the pupil has to fight against are well described too. It was not so easy to follow, maybe because there are many characters involved in the history and the plot. Is a story full of well-developed imagination that took me to a different and past time.
Holy Remedy, is a novel about power and action set around the 13th century. The regent of Eger, Baron Levente has a deadly disease and only cure to found is located in dangerous and deadly area of Buck Mountains. The only man that can probably reach there is his own knight, Rodger Clement. Time is running out and danger is ahead, so can Roger save the life of his master? So, it’s a roller coaster ride of adventure, action, fight and suspense that unfolds with the plot. The characters develop as the story progresses and dialogues are very well written.
The book has many elements – surprise, adventure, danger, loyalty, conflict, bravery, superstition, history and lots of twists to captivate readers’ attention. The author’s creativity, imagination and knowledge about past reflected very well in the book.
I love the intensity and energy of this heroic knight, Rodger Clement. After misplacing his trust in an evil Xamarrtu demon, which was portrayed as his mentor’s advisor, Rodger realized his mistake and was determined to free his people and save the Baron before all is lost.
Holy Remedy uses the mysterious Bishop and priests to mislead all but the Cithruad, the forest guardian. This leaves all vulnerable under the disguise of the church and their rituals, since Cithruad was accused of placing a curse on the Baron. No one believes his innocence.
I truly hope this is just a small taste of books to come in the future. I can see how Rodger’s wife could play a large part with the training she had just started, and her bravery. This book does not give a lot of history, or dialogue along the story, but enough is given so you understand the plot.
While there are some problems that editing can fix, in general this is an enjoyable and quick read. The story is a good one and pulls you along to the climax. It is a short novel, almost a novella. From the title it appears that this is to be one of a series; while the story arc resolves, it does leave room for more novels to follow. Set in medieval times, there are knights, bishops, enemy armies, bandits and a good dose of supernatural bad guys to be defeated.

The writing is better than a lot of translated stories that I have read; however, it would benefit from more editing. At times it was difficult to follow which character was being referenced, because the author switches between first name, last name and title indiscriminately. There are some minor grammatical errors as well. If these are cleaned up my rating would change from 3 stars to 4. All in all a good first effort by the author.
‘’’An Artifact, a holy remedy, mysterious ruins, and above all, you must go alone; have you gone mad?’ asked the wife, her eyes flooded in tears; ‘I understand that he is like a father to you, nut you are headed straight to death!’ she added, showing remarkable frustration, seeing that her words had no effect.”

Bishop Konrad is determined to have the power to control Eger and the entire world. The words ring in his head of the chosen one as he studies the ancient text to unlock the secrets and powers. He will stop at nothing including murder, to attain that power. After an encounter with the strange man dressed in green the Baron falls ill and the Bishop knows the time to act is now, as he sends Knight Rodger Clement, the Baron’s adopted son into the Bukk Mountains to the ancient ruins to claim the artifact that has already claimed lives before…

In Martin’s tale of fantasy and suspense there is never a lack of excitement as there is a new twist upon each page, leaving me spell-bound and captivated wanting to know what will happen next. The writing is excellent; characters are well developed, creating a perfect mix for this epic start to this destined surefire hit series with all fantasy fans.

“The real danger lies in the living, not the dead.”
